General Principles
APAMEIA Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of research and publication ethics. The journal adheres to the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing published by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
In accordance with TR Dizin criteria, the journal adopts COPE’s Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers to ensure ethical assurance in scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process—editors, authors, reviewers, and the publisher—are responsible for adhering to these principles.
Ethics Committee Approval
In accordance with the TR Dizin criteria, research articles submitted from Türkiye that involve human participants or animal subjects are required to obtain Ethics Committee Approval prior to data collection. This includes studies employing methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, and experiments, as well as research involving the scientific use of humans or animals (including data or materials), clinical studies conducted on humans, experimental studies conducted on animals, and retrospective studies carried out under the Law on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).
For manuscripts submitted from outside Türkiye, the requirement for ethics approval is subject to the national legislation or institutional policies of the country in which the authors are affiliated.
In the field of social sciences, studies that do not include personal data, identifiable information, or visual materials depicting participants are generally exempt from ethics approval. However, in case-based or qualitative research where personal or identifiable data are used, authors must ensure that informed consent has been obtained from the participants and explicitly state this in the manuscript.
The ethics approval document must be uploaded during manuscript submission. The journal reserves the right to suspend or reject any submission that lacks appropriate ethics documentation when required by the applicable ethical standards.
Plagiarism Policy
APAMEIA Journal enforces a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism and research misconduct. All manuscripts are screened via iThenticate or Turnitin before peer review. Submissions with a total similarity index exceeding 15% or containing self-plagiarized content are rejected.
In cases of ethical violation, the COPE Retraction Guidelines are followed, and the editorial board may retract the paper or notify the author’s institution.
Conflict of Interest
Authors are required to disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the content or interpretation of their work. Editors and reviewers must withdraw from the review process in cases where a potential conflict of interest exists.
The journal is committed to ensuring transparency in conflict-of-interest declarations and upholding the principle of impartiality throughout the editorial and review processes.
Confidentiality and Impartiality
Editors, reviewers, and members of the editorial board must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted materials. Information obtained during peer review is used solely for evaluation purposes and may not be shared or exploited for personal gain. Reviewers must not contact authors directly; all communication occurs through the Editorial Board. The journal upholds the principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and academic integrity at all stages of the publication process.
