Peer Review Process

APAMEIA Journal operates a double-blind peer review system, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process to maintain fairness, transparency, and academic integrity.

Each submission first undergoes an editorial pre-evaluation to assess its relevance, compliance with author guidelines, ethical standards, and contribution to the field. Manuscripts deemed suitable are then assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the subject area.

Reviewers are initially provided with the abstract of the manuscript and asked whether they are available to participate in the review process. Upon acceptance, the full text is shared, and reviewers are given 15 days to complete their evaluations. When necessary, an extension of up to 7 days may be granted with editorial approval.

Review reports are confidential and accessible only to the editorial team. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts based on originality, scientific contribution, methodological rigor, adequacy of the literature, and clarity of presentation. All comments must be constructive, evidence-based, and impartial. Personal remarks or language that could identify the author are strictly prohibited.

The editor makes the final decision based on the reviewers’ reports, in line with the following principles:

  • If both reviewers recommend acceptance, the manuscript is accepted for publication.
  • If both reviewers recommend rejection, the manuscript is declined.
  • If one reviewer recommends acceptance and the other rejection, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer, and the editorial decision is based on the third reviewer’s opinion.
  • If both reviewers recommend major revisions, the manuscript is returned to the author for revision and then re-evaluated by the same reviewers after resubmission.
  • If both reviewers recommend minor revisions, the revised version may be reviewed by the editor only, depending on the extent of the revisions.

Authors must respond clearly to all reviewer comments, indicating how each point has been addressed. The editor evaluates the revised manuscript and determines whether it meets the publication standards of the journal.

The peer review process typically takes 30 to 50 days from submission to decision. Reviewer identities remain confidential, although the journal may publish an annual list of reviewers who contributed to the process.

APAMEIA Journal upholds the principles of reviewer independence, confidentiality, and impartiality. Reviewers are expected to declare any conflicts of interest and to adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.
